Zonnique Pullins Career
Growing up in a family with a strong musical background, Zonnique Pullins always dreamed of pursuing a career as a singer. Recognizing her daughter’s talent and dedication, Zonnique’s mother, Tameka, who is also a singer-songwriter, formed an all-female musical group with Zonnique as one of the members.
Tameka established ‘OMG Girlz’ in 2009, which included Reginae Carter, Lourdes Rodriguez, Bahja Rodriguez, Breaunna Womack, and Zonnique Pullins. However, in the following months, Reginae Carter and Lourdes Rodriguez departed from the group, leaving the remaining members as a trio.
After winning a national competition, the remaining girls in the group were allowed to showcase their talents at the Scream Tour: Next Generation. Their performance on the tour garnered them significant exposure and attracted a dedicated group of fans.
The girls had previously put out a couple of singles, but it wasn’t until their featured track on the tour, ‘Gucci This (Gucci That),’ that they gained recognition. As soon as the tour ended, the OMG Girlz were offered a record deal with Interscope/Streamline Records.
The girls continued to put out several hit singles such as ‘Where The Boys At?,’ ‘Lover Boy,’ and ‘Baddie’ through Interscope/Streamline Records.
During the summer of 2013, they embarked on the All Around The World tour alongside the teenage male pop group Mindless Behavior. In that same year, the OMG Girlz were recognized with the 44th NAACP Image Award for their outstanding debut as artists.
At the same time, Zonnique was also making some television appearances. She was featured on the reality show ‘T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle,’ which focused on the lives of her mother, stepfather, and siblings. The show aired from 2011 to 2017.
The OMG Girlz surprised their fans in March 2015 when they announced their decision to break up and discontinue their performances as a trio. This came as a shock because the group had been experiencing a period of significant achievement.
Following the breakup of the group, Zonnique embarked on a solo journey and dropped her first solo track ‘Nun For Free’ in June 2015. She followed it up with three more singles that year: ‘Cool Kids,’ ‘My Nigga,’ and ‘Can’t Trust Em.’ Her debut EP ‘Love Jones’ was released in March 2017.
