Fans have been waiting impatiently for Boruto Chapter 81 since Volume 20 triggered a possible Timeskip. In the last chapter of Boruto, we see that Boruto is on the run, being a wanted criminal after allegedly murdering Naruto and fleeing the Hidden Leaf Village will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the plot moving ahead.

Boruto Chapter 81: Possible Timeskip, Explains Redditor
Recently, Boruto Chapter 81 has had the fans discuss the possibility of a Timeskip. A Reddit user, u/AmaranthSparrow, finely detailed why a possible Timeskip is imminent.
As some of us had previously speculated, the reason Volume 20’s release date is later than usual is because it’s actually going to contain five chapters instead of the usual four. We can tell this because it has 216 pages instead of the standard 176 pages, which every volume has had since volume 6. Every chapter is 40 pages, so there you go.
That means it’s going to contain chapters #76-80, taking us right to the cliffhanger with Boruto and Sasuke leaving Konoha to train.
Volume 21 will be a clean start beginning with chapter #81. I would actually guess that it will contain chapters #81-83 and the Minato Gaiden one-shot, the same way that Volume 1 contained chapters #1-3 and Mitsuki Gaiden.
Additionally, in the lead up to the return of the manga in August, V Jump is going to be running articles that will summarize the story told so far.
A possible reason for the hiatus for Boruto Chapter 81 could be that Volume 20’s cover page stated explicitly that “Part 1 is Complete!!! Commence the parading for the time skip.”

Remember this is a story told by boruto in the future, boruto won’t know any of that bc he wasn’t there. He would probably find out all of that post timeskip with us.
While others agreed with the Timeskip angle, they aren’t very excited about this part. Even if it happens, fans have a lot of expectations from Boruto Chapter 81.
